How to Get Your First Clients for a Cleaning Business
Practical ways to land the first paying clients for a new cleaning business without ads: local requests, referral partners, a Google Business Profile and fast quotes.
Your first cleaning clients won't come from a logo or a website. They come from being the first person to reply, with a price, to someone who needs a clean this week.
Answer requests that already exist
People post requests for cleaners every day in local community groups, neighbourhood apps and classified boards. Check them daily. Reply within the hour with two intake questions and a price range. Speed beats polish.
Set up a Google Business Profile
When someone searches "house cleaning near me," the map results show up first. A free Google Business Profile with your service area, clean types, prices or price ranges, and real photos of your work puts you on that map. Ask every happy client for a review the day of the clean.
Find referral partners
Some people meet your buyers before you do. Property managers, realtors, landlords, movers and short-term rental hosts all need cleans on deadlines. Introduce yourself with one short message: what you clean, your area, how fast you can book, and a starting price. One good property manager can fill a week.
Make the first reply do the work
Answer with the questions you need to quote: bedrooms, bathrooms, clean type, pets, and when it was last cleaned. Then quote the same day.
Turn each job into the next one
After every clean, ask for three things: a review, permission to post a before-and-after photo, and the name of one person who might want the same. Ask while the home still looks good.
Don't discount to get started
A low intro price trains your first clients to expect it. Price properly and offer something extra instead, like a free add-on on the first clean.
